Hey there everyone,
It’s been a while since I last got something posted on here,
which I’m sorry about, but I have been designing just as much as I could in the
past year, and stuck to developing some of my older pieces of work to add to my
REVAMP collection. As well as honing my style and skills for potential projects
and other personal pieces.
In the past year I’ve finished university :) moving to Leeds,
England – meeting and hanging with new people and finding inspiration in a new
city, (with just a fair bit of it in Leeds!)
My aim since then has been to become a motion graphic designer, developer/producer and VFX artist. I’m set to begin learning more about 3D/VFX packages
like 3D Studio Max and Cinema 4D, and also familiarising myself with understanding and breaking down
developments of visual and 3D effects. Since then I have been working towards adding to my REVAMP collection (purely because I have a hard drive filled with potential pieces and unfinished work which I'm eager to redevelop and stylise).
Incorporating the topics I used on semiotics and their values within comic literature for my final year project at university I had an enthusiastic idea of developing my graphic novel into a motion comic. I wanted the comic to be sharp, fluent (...in both motion and emotion), and importantly enough cinematic, being able to tell a good story all throughout. Using the subject matters of my project from last year I came to realise the importance to it's modern medium is the telling of story and the dialogue of colour, sound, and cinematography uniquely translated within it, having them all blend well enough together.
There is so much which I would like to do with my graphic
novel and so much which I will intend to do with it. It is very important to me
that I develop my comic with enough visual depth and innovation, giving it
strength and individuality to be enthralling and engaging for the readers, as
they experience the dynamics of the Ninja’s strange world while following his
journey. Always aiming to keep it charismatic and fresh.
In the mean time I’ve also been adding to old pieces as well
as progressing the Urban Ninja comic, itself. Over the season I’ll be posting
up developments of random designs which I’ve recently finished, hope you all
enjoy.

CIRCUS:Earth
Circus:Earth was from a project which I began working on with my good friend, Simon Whitton(SAWSOUND)and his previous band. Each member of the circus represented a member of the band, with The Clown, The Strongman, The Knife-thrower and The Ringleader. An ancient and mystical roving circus, collecting abandoned souls, all the while conjuring music, melodies and spectacles along the way.CD cover art
-- Unfortunately the band became disassociated and the idea of the group never got a chance to pick up. At the time I was very much into this idea and could imagine a lot of potential with the band, the characters and the eventual joining of the two. Several years later I decided to finish what I started and develop the rest of the characters as well as a front cover emblem and designs for the CD cover art. Each design is different from one another and uses colour and texture to complement the logo rather well.
Final logo emblem and original sketches
-- Originally I wanted the band's logo to be as simple and visually understandable as possible, really self explanatory from the start. After that I tried to consider what it was about the band that would best characterise who they were and what they were all about, Circus:Earth being a contemporary metal group, who concentrated on topical issues and projected their opinions from more of a traditional style of music had a great sense of darkness and humour to them, which really fed their sound and overall stage presence.
-- Poster art for the four characters
-- A nice high res image of The Ringleader which I'm intending to start painting within the next few weeks, I'm hoping to use these characters to study ideas of colour theory, texturing, digital painting techniques and web imagery.
